A Triathlon consist three disciplines, usually swimming, cycling, and running in consecutive order.
Events cover various distances set out by the governing body Triathlon England and competitors race against peers in their age category.
Taking part in a triathlon is very much achievable for everyone with practice. We run sessions throughout the year on each of the individual disciplines of running, swimming and cycling as well as holding small-scale triathlon events in the lead up to the Big Lime Triathlon. All sessions are run by qualified instructors.

Big Lime Weekend
Big Lime Weekend 2020 postponed
Hartlepool’s Big Lime Weekend, which culminates in the town’s annual sprint triathlon, has been postponed this year due to COVID-19.
It was due to take place from Friday August 14th-Sunday August 16th but will not now be held until 2021.
Hartlepool Borough Council which organises the weekend, says it has taken the decision to protect the health and wellbeing of competitors, staff and spectators.
The Big Lime Weekend usually takes place within Hartlepool Marina and at Seaton Carew. It comprises a Friday evening predictor swim, an aquathlon on the Saturday and the flagship sprint triathlon on the final day.
Senior Sport and Physical Activity Coordinator Ryan Houghton said: “This is the first time we have had to postpone since launching in 2013, and it was scheduled to be a big year for the triathlon with it having recently received North East Championship Status.
“However, the safety of competitors, staff and spectators is paramount and, therefore, we felt we had no other option but to postpone.”
Dates for next year’s event are still to be confirmed but competitors who had already entered this year have the option of automatically rolling over their entry into 2021. They can, however, request a refund by emailing their details to email@example.com before August 14th 2020.
Virtual Duathlon Challenge
Following the postponement of Hartlepool’s Big Lime Triathlon as a result of the Coronavirus crisis, would-be competitors are being invited to take part in an alternative “virtual” challenge. Hartlepool Borough Council’s Participation Team has set up the Virtual Duathlon Challenge which involves cycling 20km and running 5km.It requires competitors to record their times for each discipline between August 12th and 16th using the Strava or Garmin apps.
Competitors must email proof of their results (eg a screen shot of the app) with their full name and contact details to firstname.lastname@example.org by 8pm on Sunday August 16th.
