Sport England has a variety of funding strands which focus their investment on organisations and projects that will grow and sustain participation in grassroots sport to create opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport.

The strands are:

  • Small Grants Scheme: Applicants may apply for between £300 and £10,000. Projects must seek to increase participation in sport, sustain participation in sport or provide opportunities to excel at a chosen sport. Projects must be focused only on sports currently recognised by Sport England and delivered to beneficiaries based in England.

  • Inspire Facilities: Inspire Facilities is focused on making it easier for local community and volunteer groups to improve and refurbish sports clubs or transform non-sporting venues into modern grassroots sport facilities. Tired, worn out, old facilities make it harder for people to start or keep doing sport. They can also be more expensive to run and difficult to maintain. The Inspire Facilities fund could help you refurbish or upgrade your sports facility; or convert an existing building into a venue suitable for sport and accessible to the whole community.

  • Protecting Playing Fields: The Protecting Playing Fields funding programme is part of Sport England’s strategy which is focused on helping more people acquire lifelong sporting habits.
